Andra halted her horse when he halted his and took in the scene. It was truly beautiful. She closed her eyes and inhaled, letting her mind process the soothing scents around her. She opened them and looked at him as he spoke. "I think that you must be getting sick of all the floral aromas that follow me around," she teased, easily dismounting her horse with the same grace she had used mounting it. "Our stalker is rather large, isn't he?" she asked calmly, having picked up the bear's swift footsteps. She only knew it was large by the footsteps, for she had gauged the weight coming down. It was one of the things she had been taught.

"You could say that he's a pretty hefty b-" Exploding from the shrubs that bordered the top of the hill came Kinshou. The Kodiak bear galloped at full speed for the two humans and their mounts. Immediately, Renzukan moved to intercept him, running as quickly as he could after drawing the sword from it's saya that was still connected to his horse's saddle. Charging for the bear, he grinned, the blade held outward so that when he eventually did clash with the beast, he would not inadvertently stab him. When the two met, Kinshou was victorious in the first bout, knocking the samurai flat on his ass with a light headbut. He dropped his sword to the side and stood up, adopting a rather aggressive and primative stance, his arms at his sides and bent with hands curled into claws. "Think you're tough shit, ey bear?" he asked before tackling the animal, making absolutely know gain with the move. Dropped back on his ass, he snorted. "Fine." he said, standing up and turning his back to the bear while crossing his arms. If he were five, this would have been normal to do when he didn't get his way. It worked though as the larger of the two drew nearer and softly nudged the samurai with his snout. Renzukan turned and jumped simultaneously, gripping a tuff of fur on the back of the bear's neck and straddling him like a horse. "Gotcha." Kinshou started to buck, his teeth bared.

As the bear exploded, both horses screamed in fear and reared. Andra's crimson eyes widened and she rolled out from underneath one of the horse's hooves. As he was wrestling with the bear, Andra was wrestling the two frightened horses. She grabbed both sets of reins and pulled hard, succeeding in getting the horses to stop moving. She went to a nearby tree - that was still a safe distance away from the bear - and tied them to it. She turned in time to see Renzukan jump and straddle the bear, and the animal buck. The shogun pulled her hair out of the folded ponytail and let it cascade to her knees, watching with a shake of her head and a smile. She had avoided death once again. A mental roll of her eyes accompanied this thought. That would have been horrible, to survive so many other battles just to be killed by a horse. She took a few steps forward and watched him and the bear.

Tossed from the bear's back, Renzukan looked up at Andra from the ground. "Hi." he said, a stupified smile covering his features. He was happier now, much more so than usual. Kinshou had been waiting for him and had followed them just like Renzukan had hoped. Now would be a perfect time to introduce his trusted pet to his mistress, so he stood and dusted his back off before patting his left thigh and calling the bear's name. "Kinshou." he called across the small gap and upon hearing his name called, just like a small puppy, the bear bounded forward, stopping just short of landing directly on Renzukan. The samurai twisted his hand in a manner to point his palm up as he raised it about five inches from its starting position; the hand signal for sit. When the bear did as instructed, Renzukan was pleasantly surprised. "He must like you. I think he's showing off."

Andra looked at him and shook her head as he spoke, and then her crimson gaze was directed to the bear bounding towards them. Upon sitting, she offered her hand to the bear as she would a dog, allowing him to inhale her scent, one that still smelled like vanilla and jasmine. She smiled at Renzukan. "I hope he does like me," she said, pitching her voice so that it was soothing so that the horses didn't panic again. She smiled. "I like him very much."

"He likes you. Believe me." The samurai ran his hand over the brown furball's snout, rubbing the shortest fur so that it would stick up on end. "If he didn't, he wouldn't have let us ride so far from Kyoto without interrupting." A soft pat to the back of the kodiak's head followed his words, almost asking for a confirmation. Renzukan was pleased at his mistress' liking of his best friend. He didn't have many friends and Kinshou was by far his closest, not to mention the most intimidating.
As if acknowledging his brother's statement, after sniffing the young woman's hand, Kinshou reared up and let out a low roar, attempting not to frighten the horses any more than he had already. He didn't enjoy being the scary beast that he was, and was glad that someone other than Renzukan-san was unafraid even during their first meeting. Upon landing from his little outburst of praise for his brother, Kinshou snorted, taking the samurai's entire hand into his mouth and moving his jaw in a chewing motion, careful not to actually break skin or cause any pain. 'Renzukan-san, she smells real nice. Is she your woman?' his gaze would ask, staring directly into the man's own eyes.
Renzukan smiled at the bear and patted him on the head once more, shaking his own slowly. 'I suppose she's the closest thing I have to one, Kinshou. This is my mistress; the one I have pledged my life to.' Their words almost always went unspoken, but they could read each other better than most people could. Looking back to his mistress, the Yagyu man grinned. "Kinshou here sees himself as my protector. If he had thought that you were a threat to me, he probably would have charged for real."

Andra smiled watching the two of them interact. "I'm glad he likes me. He's magnificent," she said, watching as he stood and growled. She laughed softly as he mentioned her harming him. "Considering that you're the one that protects me, there is no way I would ever attack you outside of training," she told him, laughing softly. "I wish I had a companion as loyal as Kinshou-san here," she said, turning her gaze to watch the bear once more. Her brain was working in overtime. She knew that Kinshou must be lonely without Renzukan there all the time. Maybe she could change the old stable into a small house for Kinshou.
The Shogun then realized what she had said and gasped, putting one hand over her mouth and turning to Renzukan quickly. "Renzukan-san, I'm sorry.... I meant animal companion as loyal as Kinshou-san. You're a wonderful friend and the most loyal person I've ever met. I apologize for the way that came out," she said, bowing her head to him.

Renzukan smiled, placing his hand on her shoulder as she bowed her head. "No need to apologize Mistress. I understood what you meant." His smile was genuine and he hoped that she wouldn't give what she had said any more thought. He wasn't hurt, nor was he sad about it. In fact; the idea that she would even correct herself for the sake of his pride or feelings was rather flattering. She was a Shogun, she didn't have to correct herself for a mere servant. "Thank you though, it means a lot to me to know that you hold me in such regard." He glanced at Kinshou. The bear's eyes told him exactly what he thought they would. 'Let's keep her. The two of you can move into the den with me.' Renzukan chuckled, accidentally allowing the laughter to escape. He didn't really want to explain to Andra what he'd gotten from the bear, especially since he would have loved to take Kinshou up on the offer. 'I don't think she would go for that. She's got a pretty nice house already.' The bears reaction would have been priceless if he'd have given it with more than just his eyes. 'Nicer than my den!? I've got a four bedroom, two and a half bath. It doesn't get much better than that.' With that said, or at least implied, the bear turned and wandered off a short distance, scoffing at Renzukan with the heavy stomps he made.

Andra blinked and giggled lightly as Kinshou turned and walked away. She understood they had been communicating. "Of course I hold you in high regard, Renzukan-san," she said, smiling and walking over to Kinshou, slowly wrapping her arms around his neck in a hug so that he didn't think she was going to hurt him. "You've trained me, you talk to me as though I were more than just the Shogun, and you have just introduced me to a wonderful creature..." After saying this, the Shogun's eyes took a somber tone.
"And you're one of my two only friends."
These words were soft, and probably would only be caught by Kinshou as the young Shogun buried her face in his fur. She loved bears, regardless of how scary they were said to be. She was holding back tears that had long since needed to be shed, but she had learned at a young age that the strong did not need tears, or so her father said.

"Awwwe, not don't go calling him wonderful. You're going to swell his ego up and then I'll never be able to deal with him." He was attempting to get her to laugh, hoping to ease her away from talking like that. He was already having enough trouble not telling her everything, if she started spouting out sentimentalities and reasons why she should act the way she did around him, it was going to be even harder. He walked slowly over to the horses, drawing the saya from his mount's side and sheathing his sword. He'd been holding it still, forgetting that he'd drawn it to play with Kinshou. Renzukan was worried that he was going to slip up in what he said to his mistress, worried that he'd either let something out that shouldn't be said or that he was going to make her unhappy with something he didn't say.

Andra giggled softly and nuzzled the bear once, mainly to get her bearings, before she looked up at him with a smile, her face back to normal, her mask to fool the world in place. "Oh, Renzukan, tell me what he says, okay?" she asked before kneeling next to the kodiak bear with a smile. "Kinshou-san, I thought you might get lonely whenever you're not close to Renzukan-san, so I was wondering if, after I get it cleaned up some, you would like a new eh... den closer to Renzukan-san?" she said, directing her question at the bear, trusting Renzukan to tell her what Kinshou thought. It'd take a lot of work, but Andra would be there to help out, so she hoped that it wouldn't take too long.

Renzukan nodded to his mistress, acknowledging that he would at least try to convey the bear's answer with some accuracy. 'Renzukan-san, I don't think she understands how people generally react to me. Especially if it's going to be in the city where most haven't even seen a bear before.' The bear let out a soft growl as he craned his neck to respond to his human counter-part. 'I would normally agree with you on that, but the people of Kyoto are pretty well versed as far as interesting sights are concerned. Most would not even look twice at you if you walked down the street. But you would be confined to certain portions of the city unless accompanied by me. Can you live with that for a while?' Renzukan didn't want to relay the bear's answer to Andra if he didn't have all the information needed. It was fun playing the middle man. He more or less had control of the conversation on one end and the other end was Andra-chan, the young woman he thought he knew so well. 'Alright; I guess I can deal with that. Will this den be furnished with a couple of cute female roommates as well?' The Yagyu samurai shook his head slowly before replying. 'I seriously doubt it Kinshou. You do remember that you're the only Kodiak bear in all of Asia, right?' Kinshou snorted and turned his enter body toward Renzukan as if protesting the man's statement. 'Even if that is true, those Panda chicks are hot.' The human shrugged before turning back to his mistress and finally answering her. "He said yes, but I think we'll need to keep an eye on him while he adjust to the rules that he will be following." The word will was accented in such a manner to draw the bear's attention and it worked. He nudged Renzukan and the young man sighed lightly. "He would also like to formally request that you provide him panda concubines for his den."

Andra laughed and then nodded, hugging Kinshou again. "I'll do what I can. It'll take some time before they'll actually get here though," she said. She leaned in and looked like she was kissing Kinshou's head, but whispered instead: "Don't worry. I'll make sure the rules aren't strict." She then did kiss Kinshou's head and winked at the bear before standing up, ignoring the grass stains that were going to be present on her pants. "Renzukan-san... I really like this place. It's peaceful," she told him, trying to get his attention off of the secret she had just given the bear, one of her new friends.

The bear cooed as softly as one would expect from a bear before sitting down again and staring at Andra. It was too bad that he could communicate directly with her yet. Over time though, if the bear had his way, they would grow close enough to do so. Craning his neck one more time to look at Renzukan, the bear smiled, his lips making an effort to curl upward. 'She likes me more than she likes you.' And as if he were a small child, Kinshou stuck out his tongue.
'That's okay, because I can guarantee that I can go more places as her guard than you can.' Turning his attention back to the female, Renzukan nodded. "Yes, it would be easy to spend days out here doing nothing at all." His soft smile turned into a quirky grin. "Well, nothing productive at least."

Andra laughed and closed her eyes allowing the wind to push all of her nearly-ankle length black hair to blow forward over her shoulders. She opened her eyes and smiled before looking over at Renzukan. "What would you like to do?" she asked. She wished she could communicate with Kinshou as Renzukan did, but she wasn't that talented yet. Maybe she could convince Renzukan to teach her how to.
